Governance Programmes

Our Local Governance programme promotes one of the most sustainable forms of development – self-governance. This programme seeks to strengthen local institutions, develop ethical leaders and empower the voiceless. Among our activities, Grampari facilitates community events on village and…

Livelihoods Programme

Our Livelihoods Programme provides opportunities for self-employment and entrepreneurship. Students are charged a nominal fee and the Asia Plateau conference centre often provides a ready market for their products. We offer a sewing certification class for women that qualifies them for a government subsidized sewing machine upon completion of the course.  The class promotes both income generation as well…

Watershed Programmes

Our Watershed programme teaches conservation practices to community groups, other NGOs and individuals interested in better yields and sustainable ecosystems. We also assist villagers to protect and preserve their water sources by building and maintaining spring boxes and recharging ground water.

WASH Programmes

Grampari runs several WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) programmes. These include a school hand-washing campaign that promotes hand washing with soap – a low cost, high impact intervention that has the potential to prevent over 40% of child deaths. For more information see www.tippytap.org. The WASH programme also works to build demand for latrines and demand for clean water through…

Over the past few months, if you’d have hung out around Grampari you likely would have caught me stirring away some odd mixture wearing gloves and safety goggles. Or perhaps carefully drawing out lines on planks of plywood and then using a tablesaw to make some molds. All in the name of soap. Last weekend…
