2013 Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) Updates

Now school handwashing programme is in its last phase and we have started winding up with our last follow up. This month is busy with reinforcement activity and post observation of selected schools. (We had a pre observation of 9 schools before the programme)

In the month of February we worked with 1606 student of 23 schools. Details as follow

In last month we had 23 schools visits; see table below.

From above table we can see that percentage of clean hands has been increased as compare to first half of the programme. It’s due to continues reinforcement activities with the students as well as continues follow up with teachers. 

Presentation in DD conference

On 3rd of February 22 nations participant visited Grampari, from our team Sowmya has presented on WASH including handwashing programme, student and teacher from Eksar village school has presented their experiences and what they have learned from our school handwashing programme.

Tippy Tap visits –

Till February end students have constructed 650 tippy taps. In this month we visited tippy tap of village Gadvewadi, Eksar and Kenjal, condition of student’s tippy tap were good and found that they are using it. Suggestion which were given by us in last visit, now found improvement in the tippy taps.

Soham Chickane of Gadvewadi village school has constructed nice tippy tap in September and still it is in use.

Plans for March and April –

  • Complete remaining schools with follow up 8.
  • Complete post observation of remaining schools.
  • Data analysis from post observation.
  • Reports to every schools
  • In April final teachers workshop to share experiences, results and plan for next educational year.
  • Final review of the programme.
